ZIZALA LICHTSYSTEME GMBH

For Zizala Lichtsysteme GmbH (Wieselburg, Austria), a life cycle assessment in accordance with ISO 14040 was prepared for their xenon headlights for passenger cars.

In 2011, a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) was carried out for a xenon headlight developed and produced by Zizala Lichtsysteme GmbH (Wieselburg, Austria), following the methodology of ISO 14040.

The aim was to calculate the greenhouse gas emissions that occur during the entire product life cycle of the headlamp in order to determine its environmental impact with regard to the “Global Warming Potential” category. In addition, the performance of the xenon headlamp was compared with other headlamp technologies (LED and halogen). The results and the recommendations for action derived from them serve as input for further design and development processes for vehicle headlights at Zizala Lichtsysteme GmbH.
