ARGE ECO.in Valorization of household biogenic waste
This feasibility study aimed at identifying the potentials of valorizing biogenic wastes from Austrian households in a biogas plant, and understanding the advantages and challenges of using the products of the plant, primarily biogas, for different applications such as vehicle fuel and for combined electricity and heat generation. Considerations about current biogas plant technologies, the Austrian regulatory framework, greenhouse gas emissions, and the financial viability are included in the analysis. The resulting document “Studie über die Erschließung des Potenzials biogener Haushaltsabfälle und Grunschnitt zum Zwecke der Verwertung in einer Biogasanlage zur optimieren energetischen und stofflichen Verwertung – Anwendungsbeispiel Modellregion Mödling“ has been published by the Austrian Environmental Ministry in 2011.
