We are active founder and member of the EU COST Action BeSafeBeeHoney - Beekeeping products valorization and biomonitoring for the safety of bees and honey, starting next September 2023! This ambitious 4-year project aims to promote transnational and international cooperation to achieve innovation and knowledge in bee health, food safety, scientific research, education of veterinarians and bee health experts, preservation of the environment and biodiversity, design of new policies, and market analysis for the valorization of hive products.

We are members of the large consortium that started work in the project SUSTAINEXT! 

SUSTAINEXT is the first flagship project funded by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) that aims to revolutionize the botanical extracts industry with a unique model that can then be replicated by the European bio-based industry. This pioneering 54-month project started with a kick-off meeting on 13 June 2023 in Hervás (Extremadura, Spain).

ECODESIGN completed a Life Cycle Assessment of the insulation boards from the company Naporo Klima Dämmstoff GmbH in 2023. With this LCA report the successful re-certification for the Austrian Eco-label was achieved!

Valeo is an automotive supplier and partner to automakers worldwide, and we started working together in 2022. 

The ECODESIGN company is leading the critical review panel for the comparative life cycle assessment of the eSIM and SIM cards of Giesecke + Devrient (G+D). 

In 2021 we conducted a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for medmix AG (previously, Sulzer Mixpac AG), to assess the environmental aspects and impacts of the materials, manufacturing and distribution of the MIXPAC™ ecopaCC™ foil cartridge and the medmix 600ml 1:1 polypropylene solid cartridge. These are high-performing two-component packaging cartridges for adhesive formulations used in industrial applications.  

Finishing off 2021, the ECODESIGN company assessed by means of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), the environmental performance of a wheel detection system of the Austrian company Frauscher Sensortechnik GmbH. This wheel detection system consists of the Wheel Sensor RSR123, which is mounted at the railway tracks and provides relevant detection signals to the Frauscher Advanced Counter FAdC, which processes and then transmits the signals to control systems. This complete wheel detection system safely monitors track sections and enables the secure operations of railways worldwide.

In the ERASMUS+ project "Education, Training and Capacity-Building
in the Field of Beekeeping and Civil Defense Service", the ECODESIGN company is working with international partners to develop a knowledge campaign about the invasive alien species Vespa velutina, to stop its spread and to protect apiaries and civil society.

In order to make the public procurement system in the Basque Country more sustainable by 2030, the Basque government has created a joint program with the environmental institution IHOBE to integrate environmental aspects in public procurement. Together with the project partners Rener and Teknimap, the ECODESIGN company supports this project, and advises IHOBE on the selection and integration of appropriate environmental criteria.

ECODESIGN leads the new project "Gipuzkoa 2050 - Territorio 100% Circular". The project aims at promoting circular public procurement as a strategic instrument for achieving Gipuzkoa´s sustainability objectives.

In July 2020 the ECODESIGN company GmbH completed the Greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory for the company Bonaventura Strassenerrichtungs-GmbH. Bonaventura is the only motorway concession in Austria, operating the roads A5 South, S1 East, S1 West and S2. This concession was granted to Bonaventura in 2009 until 2039. With this long-term perspective in mind, Bonaventura´s pro-active sustainability strategy is geared towards carbon neutrality, and towards contributing to the UN sustainable development goals.

The Energy Efficient End-Use Equipment 4E Technology Collaboration Program of the International Energy Agency (IEA) provides evidence and recommendations for policies relating to the energy efficiency of different categories of electrical and electronic appliances, devices and technologies.

Together with Austria; Denmark, Sweden, and Switzerland are the members of the Power Electronic Conversion Technology Annex - PECTA.

Insights into the environmental consequences of our plastic waste are leading to a rethink, which is why Zero waste shopping, especially in the food retail sector, is becoming more popular.  

The objective of the project is to reduce the various steps in the process of Zero waste food shopping - taring, filling, weighing, labelling, payment - by developing a Smart Zero Waste Dispenser, and by thus creating an optimized, zero waste purchasing concept.

The ECODESIGN company GmbH is one of the thirteen partners in the H2020 project CO₂Fokus.

The CO₂Fokus project aims to realise the full potential of a number of strategies to exploit the direct use of CO₂ for the production of dimethyl ether (DME) by CO₂ hydrogenation. With CO₂ utilisation at its heart, CO₂Fokus will seek to exploit the inherent advantages of both chemical and electrochemical systems to establish robust, industrially optimal proofs-of-concept.

The project will explore energy efficient processes for two separate, potentially integrated systems, namely a 3D printed multichannel reactor, and a solid oxide fuel cell (for co-electrolysis and electrolysis/reverse operation).

This project focuses on the development of a database for construction materials in the Basque region. In 2018 the consortium of four partners, including the ECODESIGN company GmbH, received support from the ERAIKAL program of the Environment, Planning Territorial, and Housing Authority, for the promotion of sustainability and innovation of companies in the residential building sector of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country.

The ECODESIGN company GmbH is one of the five partners in the ERASMUS+ project BLESABEE. The aim of this project is to improve the knowledge and skills of beekeeper trainers, beekeepers, and assistants to veterinary doctors in new, safe, and effective Varroa management and treatment.  

Erasmus+, an EU programme for education, training, youth and sport is funding the project Blesabee. Project duration: 01.09.2017 to 31.10.2019.

In 2018 we completed the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the cement and Filcoten^® drainage channels of the Austrian pioneer company BG Graspointner GmbH. This LCA has been verified and key data published in the company information brochure of the innovative product Filconten^® One. 

The ECODESIGN company supported Speech Processing Solutions in the ecodesign project for the development of their Philips voice recorder (Pocket Memo 9600/9620), achieving a 80% reductions of the CO₂ emissions compared to previous models. Philips relies on clear environment communication for their dictation products using EPDs developed by the ECODESIGN company.

For the two MEDISTER® products of METEKA GmbH we performed the LCA according to ISO 14040, and ISO 14044, provided an Environmental Product Declaration according to ISO 14025, and developed a special environmental datasheet.

ECODESIGN+ is a web-based software for the assessment of the environmental performance of products, specially conceived for product development. The software follows a life cycle approach and is capable of interacting with CAD solutions such as SolidWorks and others.

We organize Ecodesign workshops with specific industry focus for the Environmental Technology Cluster.

In a long standing collaboration with Helbling we periodically prepare and deliver Ecodesign workshops for training and capacity building of their employees.

For Liebherr-Werk Bischofshofen GmbH in Austria a description and the assessment of the embedded energy of components needed for a hybrid wheel loader and the associated fuel consumption of such machinery were completed.

A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for a Xenon vehicle headlamp developed and produced by Zizala Lichtsysteme GmbH (in Wieselburg, Austria) has been completed in 2011.

The ECODESIGN company GmbH has developed a device for the treatment of honeybees against the Varroa mite, eliminating the use of any chemicals in the hives. Developed and brought to the market in 2010, the patented Varroa Controller is entirely produced and marketed by our company!

Since 2009 the ECODESIGN company is supporting the Austrian Ministry of of Climate, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) in the work as member in the IEA-4E Energy Efficient End-use Equipment Technology Collaboration Program.

Vocational education and training (VET) in Slovakia and the Czech Republic are undergoing significant changes.

The EU funded project DanubePIE aims at promoting this life cycle thinking and uses Eco-design as a powerful tool to facilitate product innovation.

The "eVienne" project's objective was the development of a prototype for a lightweight, electric vehicle suitable for use in cities and based on bicycle technologies, capable of being utilized in all kinds of weather, and for transporting of two passengers with an extra light load.

LESS! aimed at promoting sustainable service design. Within the project, experts from different fields such as social design, sustainability consultancy, environmental assessment as well as marketing and sales, worked together on a strategy to improve the existing business model and to provide innovative and resource friendly services.

To support the tender for the expansion of the Donau Universität Krems the ECODESIGN company developed a methodology to evaluate the energy performance of planned building concepts.

This feasibility study aimed at identifying the potentials of valorizing biogenic wastes from Austrian households in a biogas plant for vehicle fuel and for combined electricity and heat generation.
