ECODESIGN company at the enova2016

In the session 'User: comfort & monitoring' the ECODESIGN company presented the austrian case study on the Energy Efficiency of Residential Energy Monitoring Systems. This paper investigates the own energy consumption of residential energy monitoring systems (EMS) and the potential for their own consumption to offset expected savings. The work was carried out as part of IEA EDNA.

The results showed that, depending on the complexity of the systems, the own energy consumption can potentially cause relevant offsets in expected savings and the austrian case study showed that depending on the market penetration of these systems, they may become relevant for the macro base-load electricity consumption.

Building on these results the ECODESIGN company has developed recommendations within the framework of IEA EDNA.
