This is the title of a workshop held on the8th of March 2016 at the Intercity Hotel in Vienna, gathering different stakeholders to discuss promises of energy savings and possible trade-offs, market opportunities and existing as well as future policy for residential energy monitoring and management systems.

The 20 participants from industry, interest groups, the Ministry of Transport Innovation and Technology (BMVIT), and from the research raised questions for the Austrian and international experts and contributed actively in the group discussion. This event is part of the dissemination of the Technology Cooperation Program on Efficient Electric End-Use Equipment of the International Energy Agency. The ECODESIGN company GmbH represents BMVIT, and is Task manager for “Smart Metering Infrastructure & Energy Monitoring System” of the Electronic Devices and Networks Annex. This project is carried out within the framework of the IEA research cooperation of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT).
